Description

Markant is a center for caregivers in Amsterdam and Diemen. A caregiver is someone who, for a long period of time, provides care for a partner, parent, child or other relative, a friend or acquaintance.

Markant wants to support these caregivers by providing them with information and advice, courses, guidance and support. It also employs volunteers to give the caregiver a moment off: sometimes they take care of someone for 24 hours per day.

As a volunteer, you'll provide a moment of distraction by doing something fun, either with the person requiring care or with the caregiver. You could think of activities such as:

  • Playing football with a handicapped child
  • Going for a walk with someone in a wheelchair
  • Swimming with a sick child
  • Playing games with a senior with dementia

It's up to you decide what you want to do if the activity is with a caregiver.
